Pilots: Float Planes?

  • What are some names of any float planes with an old-fashioned reciprocating engine?


  • There are floats on some Cessna 172's. All float planes have reciprocating engines.


  • Almost any aircraft can be fitted with floats if you have enough money. Some common aircraft are 172, 182, 185 from Cessna; the Beaver, Otter, Twin Otter from DeHavilland; the Norseman from Noorduyn, Cub from Piper; and even the Beech 18 from of course Beechcraft.
    As for the previous poster stating there are only reciprocating aircraft on floats, they are incorrect. The Cessna Caravan in a turboprop and is often put on floats as well as many Beavers and Otters that undergo turboprop conversions.
