I would like to create a restricted user such that this user is only allowed to read posts in forums and not do anything interactive in the forums such as post new threads or replies, send/receive emails, etc. or even change their profile information. I understand this can be done by editing the usergroup permissions as per the "Read only user account" thread, but I'm not quite sure what areas to go to or what specific options to set. In addition, I would like to access this forum via a menu item in my application that launches a URL and query string similar to the following:
http://www.mycompany.com/vBulletin?user=userid&pw=password (http://www.mycompany.com/vBulletin?user=userid&pw=password)
If you could point me to relevant sections of your documentation or examples from your site or other areas of your forums, I would be most appreciative. Thank you for your attention regarding this matter.Basically, what ya need to do is make the usergroup/account (read only) that means he will only be able to read the posts, and not reply etc. and i dont think they can put in polls eitherI would do something else: like using .htaccess to handle that single password :)
this way they don't have to log out before registering in their own name, they can see the threads even when they are logged out, etc.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
