Hey guys
Looking at getting the canon 5D. would if you could help me out.
Right i currently have the 350D. I would mainly want it for sports would it be suitable. The bloke in jessops said that i would have to use L lenses is this true.
Cheers :thumbup:I'll agree with the 1Ds Mk II, they're an excellent sports camera and a very robust all-weather camera - if you get caught in the rain the 1Ds has environmnetal seals, fit an L lens to it and you've got a camera that shoots 8fps in wet or dusty environments. (motorsports would be a prime example)if sports is your main area of shooting, get the 1dmkIIn. You'll be glad you did, as it's made for that type of thing, whereas the 5d is made more for portraits and some landscapes and commercial stuff.I'm not sure why you would want to buy your camera from overseas. What will you use to charge the battery? You can't use an american charger in UK sockets. There might also be an issue with warranties. I'd recommend buying it locally.
PS: I agree with the choice for the 1d MKIIN. It's a newer version of the 1D MKII, and a cheaper version of the 1Ds MKII. Nice choice :)I'm not sure why you would want to buy your camera from overseas. What will you use to charge the battery? You can't use an american charger in UK sockets. great point, uni. buying overseas is a complicated and usually difficult process. just buy it there (and you'll get it sooner too :D).
i'm not sure if i'd consider the 1d2n a cheaper version of a 1ds2...that's more the 5d's description.I don't really know. Looking at a side by side on dpreview.com, the only difference is that the N has a 1/2 " bigger LCD :p I'm sure you'll find it via Google, or by going to Canon's site directly.so whats the diffrence between the mkII and the mkIIni'm not sure if i'd consider the 1d2n a cheaper version of a 1ds2...that's more the 5d's description.
Considering that the 1Ds MKII is $6900 while the 1D MKIIn is $3600, I'd say it's a cheaper version. The N is a cheaper version of the 1D body design. The 5D in my eyes is a more expensive, full-frame version of the 30D.I'll agree with the 1Ds Mk II, they're an excellent sports camera and a very robust all-weather camera - if you get caught in the rain the 1Ds has environmnetal seals, fit an L lens to it and you've got a camera that shoots 8fps in wet or dusty environments. I think you mean 1dMkII and 1d.'I might be going to the States in a few months...' - Dude, do you actually need a camera or what? And as I say, you only save £200 or so anyway as the exchange rate is not 2 to 1 but more like 1.78 to 1.......Dom
3600USD is actually just over £2000 plus shipping plus Duty and then VAT on top. Its not worth it. http://www.warehouseexpress.com/ have them for £2250.No you don't have to use L lenses. If you want to get maximum quality, you would want to, but you don't "have" to. As for sports, it only shoots up to 3fps. It does have a large buffer, but that's not a very high frame rate for sports. You'd be better off getting a 1D MKII, which will give you 8.5 fps.its strange as the mkII is more than the MKIIn apart from that i carnt work out what the major diffrence ispossably going to the stats in a few months so might pick it up while over thereCheck again, Dan. ;)
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos1dsmkii/page5.aspwhen you see 'n' at the end of a pro level canon camera, it basically means it's an updated version of the camera of the same name without the n. for instance, the EOS 1n is an update to the EOS 1. the 1dMkIIn is the upgrade/update to the EOS 1dMkII.
IMO that's the best sports camera you can get from canon. it is arguably the most used camera for american football, baseball, basketball, soccer/football, and most other sporting events.Actually in the input voltage range on Canon battery chargers cover both the Americas and Euro. All you need is replace the cord and at the worse cut the plug off then run to hardware store for a replace plugballs didnt think of the sockets warehouse direct it is thenI have the 1dMkIIn been very happy with it, B&H has it listed for 3600 US, got mine last October it was 400 more, but would still like to have a 5D for landscapes3600 dollars that 1,800 pounds do b&h ship to the UK???carnt afford the 1Ds mkII but can afford the 1D mark IIN . think this is what im goign to go for how much should i be looking at paying?? also out of intrest what does the N stand for

still, they are two very different cameras. as far as body construction goes, they are similar (although the 1dII is closer to the body of the 1dsII than the 1dIIn is)...i was thinking more of sensor format and rough camera purpose.Xmetal, the camera you are linking to has a frame rate of 4fps, compared to for example the 8.5 that I get.....4fps is barely adequate and I don't think the 16.7MP is necessary for sports.....so check again yourself;)#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
